self portrait

and,

the first one, very artist-angsty, i know.
i connect it with the couch image for some reason.
something about little surprises
outer vs. inner,
something.

so, thanks for looking at my newly washed face
and thanks for looking at this lovely couch.

thoughts are always welcome in the comments,
i read and respond!

love,
shannon,
the girl in the headband
and the girl in the couch.

My Grandma's photos

My Grandma is wonderful, and sends me photos every few weeks. I've realized that perhaps I get my fascination from her. SOMEONE ELSE THINKS DIRT CONTOURS ARE AMAZING??? How exciting!!

So, I thought I'd share these beauties with you.
They brightened my day, and I hope they bring
some light to yours as well :)

literally titled
Dirt Contours

Wedding with Lauren Hillary

I got to shoot a wedding with Lauren Hillary
in Laguna Niguel the other day!
I love focusing on the little details.
Here's some of my all time favorites:

Enjoy
today

Lido 106

I got to take photos of some good friends of mine who are all apartment-mates this year. I know them from my old floor the Max, and from my RA job.

These girls are lovely!
We took the photos right outside their apartment
and in their teeny tiny laundry room
surprisingly it was their idea!
they were having a labor day picnic later that day,
and thus,
the watermellon

veggies

Yeah, you think this looks like blotches of colors? It's really vegetables! I don't know why it didn't focus. I don't understand the Polaroid rules or mechanics.

the view through our door

i think that there are infinite ways
to look at your world,

and by your world
i mean--

the few hundred square feet
that you live in.

its so cool because i had never seen this before:
hollie!
i dont even think i knew we had a peephole until five minutes ago

I'm smiling from ear to ear. A YELLOW SCHWINN!!!!!!!!!!!

this is another one of those stories where I just can't contain myself.

Denise and I needed bikes. Badly.
This was serious business.
Now that we live in apartments off-campus, walking to and from class was taking a little bit long-- especially when its so hot out.

Well, we went to LA and came back with nothing.
We looked at a million beach cruisers, and a million other bikes, but none of them worked. We needed more than one speed (we're not very strong. hills would be killer.), and we didn't want to spend more than $100. LA gave us no options but to go home empty-handed.

Sad would be an understatement. We were absolutely devestated.

Our next try was Craigslist.
Somehow, magically-- we found this amazing site online: http://myspace.com/junkyrustybikes.
This guy had our dream bikes
Literally. I wanted a yellow one, and guess what he had? I KNOW!!
I got yellow, Den got blue. Both vintage Schwinns.

It gets better. He delivered them THAT NIGHT.
I know.
So we got our bikes, we are literally glowing because of our answered prayers, and I now don't have to run to class when I'm late. AND IT HAS A BELL!!!!!!!

{excited for our bike-shopping day}
den test driving one of the beach cruisers that we hated
yes, strong language, i know-- but seriously. are you a little perplexed, like we were?
donuts, fried chicken, and chinese food?
from louisiana?
with palm trees??
a sight on our way to one of the bike shops that failed us miserably
and another
in utter disbelief at our lack of success
sidenote--denise tells me I have really white legs, and, yes-- I do, and it's because I'm from Canada and don't like tanning. waste of time!
and now I'm smiling and glowing because my bike is incredible.
I rode it to church this morning.
I am so thankful.
{I won't mention the part about me huffing and
puffing up the hill because the gears need fixing}

A roommate meeting at the laundromat

We wanted to get together to talk about the semester, and we also all had laundry to do. By "we had laundry to do" I mean: I hadn't done my laundry in a few months and I figured it was time.

So: meeting AT the laundromat!!
i LOVE this one
!!
even though I live in Tropicana now,
I am devoted and committed to representing the Max
{my home for two years} at all times. el forgot to close her eyes for the smiling with our eyes closed shot--
alright, bye! go do your life!
